It’s all a matter of perspective really: Either it’s – Shit, where has the year gone…I feel like I’ve got nothing done, or Cool, I still have half a year to get my stuff together for 2024! I’m usually playing in the latter camp, but this year seems different. For me the lack of live gigs is the main culprit. With ‘Live’ being my main musical focus, then that bit doesn’t happen it really feels like all the other little musical wins are a bit pointless.

So, I’m going to have to fix that in the 2nd half of this year….starting with playing ‘Live’ at Burning Man.

Burning Man 2022 – Sunset Playa Play

It’s not the first time (nor the last) I have put out this photo and it really encapsulates what playing at Burning Man is all about. This was a spontaneous sunset gig I did out in the desert, where I dragged a sound system, my gear and an Esky (cooler) of margaritas with ice, out to a spot in the middle of the desert and just started playing. There was an eclectic collection of people who stopped for a chat, a dance, a bit of sparkle-pony photography and even some housework (the artist came to vacuum his installation). The 2 guys above arrived and jammed along to a few tracks before heading on their way. A magic time (thanks Goldilocks (aka Chris Kreis) who took the photo and also joined me for the gig with an hour long DJ set after me).

So, having finished (FINALLY) my album (well my part of the responsibilities), all attention is now refocusing on prepping some new music for Burning Man, and as a consequence also starting to trial the music for the ‘next album’. The 11 tracks for this one are off to the mix/master engineer for them to add their magic and I’ll be announcing a release date soon (and, I think a little release party will be order!).

I’m going to get my live streaming up and running again as I prep for Burning Man, so keep an eye on the socials (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch) for some live views of my work in progress.
