Playing Catch-Up… Live! (🎶July’s Monthly Notes)

Right, confession time — my Weekly Bandcamp releases had fallen behind. Not “oops, one week” behind. Properly behind… like 5 weeks behind.

So in July I did what any sensible producer does: turned the backlog into a mini project. Enter 5 Hot Jams — a daily live-streaming of the creation process end-to-end, with the raw audio dump of that live improvisation being the finished track. No overthinking, no endless tweaking, just record the live stream jam and upload.

Tracks #4, 6, 7, 11 and 28 are now up on R.A.W. 2026 (WIP) (https://stevepottz.bandcamp.com/album/r-a-w-2026-wip) because of it. (Week 12’s still lurking on the to-do list — one thing at a time.) And you can watch the live-streamed making of these 5 tracks on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@StevePottz/streams)

The other big July moment: Mannenberg (Deep House Version) is back out in the world, freshly re-released and now clearly credited as the cover it is. Feels good having that one properly out there again especially with the passing of Abdullah Ibrahim (RIP 15 June) :

Two very different ways of making music in one month — one all improvised chaos, one a tidy-up of something already loved. Onwards to August.
